November 8, 2021QC LGU brings back Christmas parol making tradition with Eton
For a year, Quezon City’s Christmas parol making contest tradition came to a halt due to the pandemic. But as quarantine restrictions loosened this November, the Quezon City local government unit (LGU), led by the Office of the Vice Mayor, announced the resumption of this lantern-making tradition in partnership with real estate developer, Eton Properties Philippines, Inc.
In a statement, Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto thanked Eton Properties for supporting the Quezon City LGU resume this annual Christmas tradition. “It has been said before that in order for our nation to get back on its feet and out of this pandemic, the government and the private sector need to work together for the welfare of the community and the economy. We are happy to work together with Eton Properties to create a sense of normalcy and bring back the spirit of Christmas for all our Quezon City citizens,” Sotto said.
Titled, “Kumukutikutitap: A Hopeful and Golden Pinoy Christmas”, the parol making contest is open to all barangays in Quezon City. In order to register and qualify, residents need to coordinate their participation with their respective Barangay Chairmans to be considered as official entries. Approximately 142 entries, representing all the barangays in Quezon City, are expected to join the contest. All entries will be displayed and lighted at the same time in Eton Centris along EDSA, Quezon City on December 13, 2021.
According to Eton Properties Chief Operating Officer, Karlu Tan Say, “We are honored to partner with the Quezon City LGU on this project. As we come closer to the end of this year, it is important for both the government and the private sector to unite and together, boost the morale of the communities where we operate in. In order to come out of this challenging year better and stronger, we need to be engaged in nation building for a more prosperous 2022.”
Eton Properties Executive Vice President, Engr. Charlie Carlos agrees, “We are one with the Quezon City LGU on reenergizing the city for the coming holiday season. Eton Centris, being situated at a strategic location along EDSA, is proud to host the parol lighting in December, as we envision Eton Centris as the beacon of light north of Metro Manila.”
The QC LGU through the Office of the Vice Mayor and Eton Properties will be giving away cash prizes to the winners of the grand prize, second and third prizes, and the People’s Choice Award, as well as consolation prizes, on the parol lighting and awarding event in Eton Centris this coming December.
